Renewable Energy at Springhill
We at Springhill farm are committed to providing sustainable holidays and activities, for example our horses run on a renewable energy called grass. Now we have installed a biomass boiler to heat all our accommodation, running on woodchip sourced locally from a certified renewable source, we have gone a long way in reducing our carbon footprint.
The Hargassner WTH 150 has replaced 3 oil fired boilers ( no longer do we put up with the smell of oil, which has been replaced with the occasional wiff of woodsmoke), the heat is transported via underground insulated pipe to the vairious destination points. Operating at an efficency of 93% the only waste is a small quantity of ash, which is nearly pure potash, this is spead evenly over the much heap and spread on the horses haylage ground to help grow more next year.
